Brian Easton, an independent scholar, is an economist, social statistician, public policy analyst and historian.
He was the Listener economic columnist from 1978 to 2014, before becoming a Pundit columnist. As well as a formidable set of research publications he has written over 30 books and monographs. His most recent are Globalisation and the Wealth of Nations and Heke Tangata. He holds positions in six New Zealand universities and has held them in overseas ones in Australia, Britain and the United States. His political economy of New Zealand’s history, Not in Narrow Seas, will be published by Victoria University Press in 2020.
